- Activity 1, silent movies
Watch Charlie Chaplin’s “The Lion’s Cage” on YouTube, and answer these questions during or after:
- When do you think this movie was made, and why?
- What kind of genre is it?
- Describe the main actor (how does he look, how does he behave/act…).
Think on your own and answer the questions in your notebook.
Pair up with another student and discuss your answers.
Share with the whole class.

Watch “A Cute Love Story” on YouTube, and answer these questions during or after:
- How were you affected by this short movie? What feelings did you get?
- What makes this video different from other videos?
- How did the two characters tell each other how they felt?
Think on your own and answer the questions in your notebook.

- Activity 3, silent the evolution of filmmaking
In pairs, discuss the following questions and write your answers in your notebooks. You need to use your general knowledge about time, development and history, and guess!
- In which decade do you think the first movie ever was made?
- How do you think people reacted when they saw a movie – moving pictures on a screen – for the very first time?
- In what ways has filmmaking changed throughout time? Mention at least three ways.
- In your personal opinion, what makes a movie good? Mention three things.
